Sheriff Sales

Sheriff Sales are held on Thursdays (excluding holidays) starting at 10:00 am in the lobby of the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department, 32 E Spruce Street, Chippewa Falls. The Sheriff or Sheriff's Deputy holds the sales being a fair and impartial party.

Note: For questions regarding properties scheduled for Sheriff sale, please contact the Attorney for the plaintiff.

Plaintiff / Representative Fees

  • Sheriff Sale Posting Fee: $75, Pre-pay
  • Sheriff Sale Fee: $75, Due on day of sale

Buyer's Information for Day of the Sale

  1. The winning bidder must be prepared to pay a 10% down payment in the form of certified funds at the time of the sale of the foreclosed property. The down payment must be paid to the Chippewa County Clerk of Courts in the form of cash or certified bank check. Personal checks can not and will not be accepted.
  2. New, Effective October 1, 2018: An Eligible Third-Party Bidder Affidavit (PDF) will need to be completed and filed with the Chippewa County Clerk of Courts Office by any winning bidder.

General Information

All foreclosure properties are sold as-is and will be sold in the form of an auction; the highest bidder is awarded the property. It is the responsibility of the bidder to check for back taxes, liens, judgements, etc. that may be outstanding and attached to the property. If there are any questions regarding the property, you will need to contact the attorney listed on the foreclosure notice.

Foreclosure notices are posted by the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department in the main lobby of the Sheriff's Department, on the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department Website, and, if outside the City of Chippewa Falls, in the City / Township / Village where the property is located.
