We are currently recruiting for the following open positions at Chippewa County.
Some of our positions require that you complete pre-employment physical requirements prior to being eligible for hire. Others require certain physical environment requirements to be met.
Inability to meet these requirements will not automatically disqualify a candidate for employment.
Patrol Officer
Read the job description of the Patrol Officer.
This will include Patrol Officer, Reserve Patrol Officer, Recruit Deputy, Patrol Sergeant, Field Services Lieutenant, and Chief Deputy
- Successfully pass a Physical Readiness Test (PRT - performed by Chippewa County) if the candidate is LESB certified and the certification was obtained over 9 months ago.
- PRT Requirements
- Vertical Jump: minimum 11.5 inches
- Agility Run: 23.4 seconds or less
- Sit-ups: 24 or more in one minute
- 300 meter run: in 82 seconds or less
- Pushups: 18 or greater
- 1.5 mile run: 20:20 minutes or less
- Non-DOT Drug Test
- Respirator Questionnaire
- Based on results, a Pulmonary Function Test could be necessary
- Mask Fit Testing done by the Sheriff's Office
Jailer I or II
Read the position description of the Jailer I or II.
This will include Reserve Jailers, Jail Sergeants, Jail Lieutenant, and Jail Captain.

Telecommunicator
Read the position description of the Telecommunicator.
This will include the Emergency Communications Center Coordinator and the Emergency Communications Center Director.
- Stooping, kneeling, standing, sitting, reaching, walking, lifting, and / or moving (up to 10 pounds), grasping, talking, hearing / listening, seeing / observing, and repetitive motions.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
Other Pre-Employment Requirements
Other pre-employment requirements are:
- Rapid drug test
- Baseline audiogram (hearing test)
- Basic medical exam that will include a conversation with the provider as well as a basic vision exam, blood pressure check, health history, pulse, respiration, etc…)
