Family Caregiver Support Programs
Caregivers often feel burned out, wishing they had more support. We can help you figure out a plan for your caregiving journey. Visits are offered at your home, office, phone, or virtually to examine and arrange community options, short-term intervention, advocacy, and prevention services.
We administer programs locally (such as the National Family Caregiver Support Program (PDF), the Alzheimer's Family Caregiver Support Program (PDF), and Trualta Online Caregiver Training Resource) that are designed to focus on the person providing the care to give them a rest, offer some time for themselves, and have break from responsibilities. This can look different in each situation. The caregiver can be any age, and can be a friend or neighbor, as long as they are caring for persons with the following criteria:
- At least 60 years old
- Has Alzheimer's disease or related disorder (regardless of age)
- Lives in the community / in their own home
- Needs help with basic activities of daily living (personal care, paying bills, shopping, preparing meals)
- Minor child, if you are a grandparent / relative caregiver
- An adult child with a disability aged 18 to 19, if you are a relative caregiver
Check out our ADRC Events page for local caregiver classes / workshops being offered.
