Overview
Many older adults don't get adequate nutrition, which can impact health conditions, overall quality of life, and general well-being. The purpose of our Senior Nutrition Program is to help older individuals to live independently with improved nutrition. We provide a variety of services for people 60 years of age and older that promote good health behaviors, such as nutrition screenings, education, counseling, and intervention.
We offer two senior nutrition services by Chippewa County:

Nutrition
Meals comply with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPlate to provide at least one-third of the Recommended Dietary Allowances for an older person. Food safety measures are in place to keep food safe during transportation and dining.
Cost and Funding
No one will be denied a meal if they are unable to pay. This is a confidential donation based program, suggested cost $5.50 per meal or $6.50 for our Café 60 restaurant location. We ask all participants to give a contribution within their means. We mail out monthly statements. Programs are funded under the federal Older Americans Act dollars, State funding, and donations which go directly back into the program.
Donate
Donations are always welcome even if you're not getting a meal in exchange. This is a great way to "give back" to a program that supports our elderly community right here in Chippewa County. We accept donations online, in person, or a mailed check.

Closures Due to Weather
Senior Nutrition Programs may close due to weather. Check the news for a complete list of business closures. However, note that even if Chippewa County Senior Centers
are closed, that doesn't necessarily mean our Senior Dining programs are closed at their locations. It must specifically list Chippewa County Senior Dining
and Chippewa County Meals on Wheels
on the closure list. Typically, we follow the school district closures, but with the introduction of remote learning days, please be diligent about checking the list of program closures on the news. As always, feel free to contact us with questions at 715-726-7777.
