Elder Benefits

The Elder Benefit Specialist (EBS) Program is a federal and state mandated advocacy program that provides assistance to older adults (age 60 or better). This includes education on benefits, screening to determine benefit entitlement, helping seniors secure benefits, and advocating to resolve problems with benefits and denials through an appeal.

Understanding Medicare

The EBS is a State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) counselor, providing free and unbiased insurance counseling to help you understand Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicare prescription drug coverage, supplemental insurance options (Medigap), and long-term care insurance.

I know someone who could use help - How do I get them help?

Only the potential client (or their activated Power of Attorney for Finance) can contact the Elder Benefits Specialist to begin getting assistance. This protects their confidentiality and supports his / her autonomy to make a decision about whether to become a client of the program. You can offer information to your friend / family member or even help them make a phone call to us to get started.
