Human Health Hazards

Human Health Hazards are substances, activities, or conditions that are known to have the potential to cause acute or chronic illness, injury, or death if exposure to the substance, activity, or condition is not stopped.

The health department follows up on reports of potential human health hazards to protect public health, safety, and general welfare and to maintain and protect the environment for the people of Chippewa County.

Health hazards that result from an unreasonable activity or use of property that interferes with the health and safety of others are the targets of our activity.

Specifically, the following conditions may constitute a human health hazard:

  • Accumulation of refuse
  • Air pollution
  • Animal carcasses
  • Dilapidated buildings
  • Garbage and refuse
  • Groundwater pollution
  • Insanitary public restrooms
  • Noxious odors
  • Nuisances
  • Surface water pollution
  • Unbarricaded openings
  • Unfit buildings
  • Wastewater and sewage
