Understanding the Risks
Posting a cash bond does not guarantee you will get all—or any—of your money back.
The Court may apply the bond money toward:
- Court costs, fines, or forfeitures
- Restitution (if ordered)
If the defendant:
- Fails to appear in court,
- Violates any bond condition, or
- Commits a new offense,
the Court may forfeit the cash bond. The defendant and the person who posted the bond will receive written notice and have 30 days to respond in person or in writing.
If a defendant misses a court date, the Court may order immediate forfeiture of the cash bond without further notice.
